More reports of mishaps will put focus on preventing ear drops from being instilled into the eyes.

In one case, a patient with pink eye got neomycin/polymyxin B/ hydrocortisone OTIC (ear) suspension instead of OPHTHALMIC (eye) suspension. This resulted in severe burning and eye pain after use.

In other situations, carbamide peroxide drops for earwax were inadvertently used in the eye...causing stinging, swelling, and redness.
