avoid mishaps with cough and cold medications

All of the recent shortages and recalls will force new checks and balances to avoid mishaps with cough and cold medications.

Choosing a product. Expect to see many of last season's recalled OTCs return to the market...especially Johnson & Johnson meds. Tylenol Cold & Flu Severe caplets will be back in time for the cold and flu season...Tylenol Sinus, Sudafed, and Benadryl will be back in early 2012.

Alert the pharmacist to orders for unapproved Rx cough and cold products...Rondec, Ceron-DM, Nasohist, Trexbrom, etc. The med will need to be switched to an approved product...Delsym, Mucinex, Tussionex, etc. To get a list of approved meds for your pharmacy, see our PL Chart, Alternatives to Unapproved Cough and Cold Meds.
